LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Carle Place Union Free School
District upon the occasion of its designation as a Commissioner's School
by the New York State Education Department

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of commitment and high achievement whose
purpose and endeavors prove a dedication to the pursuit of excellence in
the education of the youth of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Carle Place Union Free School District (UFSD) upon the occasion of
its designation as a Commissioner's School by the New York State Educa-
tion Department (NYSED); this prestigious designation is only granted to
five districts in the entire State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner's Schools exemplify autonomy, accountability,
and high performance; these schools have practices that are evidence-
based, proven to advance student achievement and can be replicated by
low performing schools; and
WHEREAS, Through this recognition and as a result of their high
performance, Carle Place will receive a Dissemination Grant, which will
enable Carle Place Schools to disseminate information to low performing
districts about the best practices that have helped them to raise the
academic achievement of their students and close the achievement gaps
among subgroups of students within their schools; and
WHEREAS, The Carle Place UFSD will disseminate its instructional prac-
tices aligned with the Common Core Learning Standards including a
multi-tiered approach to data analysis; and
WHEREAS, The Carle Place UFSD continuously strives to exceed academic
standards and ensure that all of its students are receiving the best
education possible; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable school district has continually demonstrated
an impressive dedication, an unparalleled devotion and an unremitting
enthusiasm for the quality of educational programs and opportunities
offered for the benefit of its faculty and students as well as for the
entire community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Carle Place Union Free School District upon the occasion of
its designation as a Commissioner's School by the New York State Educa-
tion Department, noting the significance of its accomplishment and
recognizing the role such effective schools play in shaping the quality
of life in their community, State and Nation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dave Flatley, Superintendent of Schools, Carle Place Union
Free School District.
