LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Boy Scouts Steven Mushorn, Joe Carr, Joe
Earley, Jason Mushorn and Alex Marchiselli in acknowledgement of their
heroic acts on January 9, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the courage, calm and bravery of those remarkable young people
who perform heroic acts, taking prompt and appropriate action in emer-
gency situations in an effort to preserve safety and property; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Boy
Scouts Steven Mushorn, Joe Carr, Joe Earley, Jason Mushorn and Alex
Marchiselli in acknowledgement of their heroic acts on Wednesday, Janu-
ary 9, 2013, in helping to extinguish a fire at an apartment; and
WHEREAS, The boys were recognized with certificates of appreciation by
Williston Park Mayor Paul Ehrbar during the Williston Park Board of
Trustees meeting on Tuesday, January 22, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The boys, who are all Boy Scouts, were playing soccer across
the street from a school when they noticed flames; one of the boys,
Steven Mushorn, got a fire extinguisher and then put out the fire with
the help of his friends; and
WHEREAS, These exceptional young men should be meritoriously commended
for remaining calm under pressure and for showing valor and true courage
while performing a noble deed; and
WHEREAS, Through their spontaneous and heroic actions, these remark-
able Boy Scouts demonstrated their character and compassion for the
welfare of others, personifying, by virtue of their actions, the collec-
tive concern of ordinary citizens across the community of New York State
who voluntarily respond when others are in need of help; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Boy Scouts Steven Mushorn, Joe Carr, Joe Earley, Jason Mushorn and
Alex Marchiselli in acknowledgement of their heroic acts on January 9,
2013; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Steven Mushorn, Joe Carr, Joe Earley, Jason Mushorn and Alex
Marchiselli.
