LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Mary Margaret Flett,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of her community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Mary Margaret Flett died on Friday, August 17, 2012, at the
age of 66; and
WHEREAS, Born on September 30, 1945, in Oswego, New York, Mary Margar-
et Flett was the daughter of the late Angelo and Amelia Ponzi; and
WHEREAS, Mary Margaret Flett worked as a custodian for the Oswego
Police Department for many years, and was also employed as a waitress
for the Char-Pit for 32 years; and
WHEREAS, This hard working individual also served her community as
County Legislator, and also as City Alderman; and
WHEREAS, Mary Margaret Flett is survived by her son, Thomas Flett; her
grandson, Joshua Flett; one brother, Anthony Ponzi; and two sisters,
Rita Johnson and Delores Fitzgerald; and
WHEREAS, Mary Margaret Flett distinguished herself by her sincere
dedication to the welfare of her community; and
WHEREAS, Mary Margaret Flett leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Mary Margaret Flett, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Mary Margaret Flett.
