LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Frederick Parola upon the occasion of
his designation as winner of the Jerusalem Chapter of the National Soci-
ety of the Daughters of the American Revolution, American History Essay
Contest on May 9, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success in
educational competition, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Frederick
Parola upon the occasion of his designation as winner of the Jerusalem
Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revo-
lution, American History Essay Contest; he was honored at the Chapter's
annual luncheon on Friday, May 9, 2014, in Wantagh, New York; and
WHEREAS, For more than a century, the members of the National Society
Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) have dedicated themselves
to historical preservation, promotion of education, and encouragement of
patriotic endeavor; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the New York State organization of NSDAR provides
young people with an opportunity to think creatively about our nation's
great history and learn about history in a new light through its Ameri-
can History Essay Contest; and
WHEREAS, Frederick Parola is an 8th grade student at Wantagh Middle
School in Wantagh, New York, with a passion for history; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed young man was awarded a silver medal and
certificate for his essay about the lives of children during the Ameri-
can Revolution; his composition told the story of a fictional
14-year-old boy taking on adult responsibilities when his father leaves
to join the Continental Army; and
WHEREAS, With his sense of civic pride and his desire to achieve,
Frederick Parola represents the best development of the potential which
is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in his accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by his teachers and parents;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Frederick Parola upon the occasion of his designation as winner
of the Jerusalem Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the
American Revolution, American History Essay Contest; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Frederick Parola.
