LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Helene R. Harris upon the occasion of
her designation as Kiwanian of the Year by the Kiwanis Club of County
Seat, Mineola, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those individuals and organizations that devote their energy, resources
and thoughtful care to improving the quality and character of life in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Helene R. Harris upon the occasion of her designation as Kiwanian of the
Year by the Kiwanis Club of County Seat, Mineola, Inc., to be celebrated
at its Charter Night on March 11, 2013, in Mineola, New York; and
WHEREAS, Helene Harris brings a wealth of experience and a well-round-
ed knowledge of accounting and people skills to the Kiwanis Club of
County Seat, Mineola, Inc.; she is a 34-year resident of Mineola where
she moved shortly after getting married; and
WHEREAS, Helene Harris earned her degree in accounting from Hofstra
University and spent numerous years as financial controller in multiple
businesses including accounting, legal and travel; she currently prac-
tices accounting for her own business, HRH Bookkeeping Services; she
teaches her clients to learn how to control the bottom line through
proper budgeting and financial planning; and
WHEREAS, A pure problem solver, Helene Harris works to ensure that her
Kiwanis club can achieve its goals to help our communities and families;
an advocate of the needy, her father taught her the importance of giving
and helping those less fortunate; and
WHEREAS, Helene Harris has been the treasurer and is currently the
secretary for the County Seat as well as for the Long Island North Divi-
sion of Kiwanis; she continues to find ways to help the club provide
services to assist the communities and children; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Helene Harris has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Joel, and their
son Bryan, both of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Helene R. Harris upon the occasion of her designation as Kiwanian
of the Year by the Kiwanis Club of County Seat, Mineola, Inc.; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Helene R. Harris.
