LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ed Sherlock of Middleburgh, New York,
upon the occasion of his designation as 2012 Business Person of the Year
by the Schoharie County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations that give of their time and
energies and serve the best interests of their communities are an asset
beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ed
Sherlock of Middleburgh, New York, upon the occasion of his designation
as 2012 Business Person of the Year by the Schoharie County Chamber of
Commerce; this auspicious occasion will be celebrated at the annual
dinner meeting of the chamber, to be held on Friday, March 15, 2013, at
Caverns Palace Restaurant in Howes Cave, New York; and
WHEREAS, Ed Sherlock of Middleburgh, New York, began his radio career
in 1964 as a junior in high school by working for two small market radio
stations; and
WHEREAS, In 1969, Ed Sherlock attended Point Park College in Pitts-
burgh, Pennsylvania, and majored in radio and television broadcasting;
from 1969 through 1979, he was employed in Pittsburgh as an announcer
for radio stations WTAE, WWSW and KDKA; and
WHEREAS, Ed Sherlock purchased his first radio station in 1979 in
Johnstown/Altoona, Pennsylvania; he later added two FM Stations to the
group; and
WHEREAS, In 2004, Ed Sherlock sold his radio stations in
Johnstown/Altoona and thereupon operated a radio station owned by the
Johnstown, Pennsylvania, school district; he also taught radio sales and
radio broadcasting in the district; and
WHEREAS, In May 2007, Ed Sherlock purchased radio station AM-1190 WSDE
and brought nighttime broadcasting to AM-1190; in June 2012, he added
LITE 94.3 FM to AM-1190; and
WHEREAS, Ed Sherlock and his wife, Alla, reside in Middleburgh, New
York; Ed is the father of three children, Carrie, Melody, and Christo-
pher; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Ed Sherlock of
Middleburgh, New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their profession and community,
and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence, certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ed Sherlock of Middleburgh, New York, upon the occasion of his
designation as 2012 Business Person of the Year by the Schoharie County
Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ed Sherlock.
