LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Thomas and Dusty Putnam upon the occa-
sion of their designation as 2012 Community Leaders of the Year by the
Schoharie County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations that give of their time and
energies and serve the best interests of their communities are an asset
beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Thomas and Dusty Putnam upon the occasion of their designation as 2012
Community Leaders of the Year by the Schoharie County Chamber of
Commerce; this auspicious occasion will be celebrated at the annual
dinner meeting of the chamber, to be held on Friday, March 15, 2013, at
Caverns Palace Restaurant in Howes Cave, New York; and
WHEREAS, Residents of Schoharie, New York, Thomas and Dusty Putnam are
active in their home church, the Schoharie Reformed Church; both have
participated on development committees for the City Mission of Schenec-
tady and Major Gifts Capital Campaign Cabinet for Camp Fowler; and
WHEREAS, Thomas O. Putnam is the founder and chairman of Fenimore
Asset Management/FAM Funds; he oversees the firm's privately managed
accounts and three publicly-traded mutual funds; and
WHEREAS, A former member of the Investment Company Institute Board of
Governors, Cobleskill Regional Hospital Board, and Reformed Church of
America Investment Committee, Thomas O. Putnam earned his bachelor of
arts degree from the University of Rochester and a master of business
administration degree from Tulane University; and
WHEREAS, Thomas O. Putnam currently serves on the boards of the New
York State Historical Association (Fenimore Art Museum), the Catskill
Area Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation, Guideposts, and the Guide-
posts Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Dusty Putnam is a principal and vice president with Fenimore
Asset Management where she oversees human resources, marketing, and
public relations; and
WHEREAS, Active in Schoharie, New York's revitalization efforts and
chair of the Schoharie Village Planning Board, Dusty Putnam serves on
several not-for-profit boards including the Elizabethtown College Board
of Trustees, Arkell Hall Museum and Library Board, and the Cobleskill-
Richmondville Educational Foundation; she is also on the leadership team
for church on the Grow at the Schoharie Reformed Church; and
WHEREAS, Dusty Putnam obtained her undergraduate degree from Eliza-
bethtown College and her M.S. degree from Washington College; and
WHEREAS, Thomas and Dusty Putnam have a daughter, Anne; a daughter and
son-in-law, Caddie and Robert Rankin; and two beloved grandchildren,
Lucy and Thomas; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Thomas and Dusty
Putnam of Schoharie, New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their profession and community,
and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence, certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Thomas and Dusty Putnam upon the occasion of their designation as
2012 Community Leaders of the Year by the Schoharie County Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Thomas and Dusty Putnam.
