LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Larry Becker upon the occasion of his
induction into the New York State Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame as a Member
of the Class of 2013

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding individuals who distinguish themselves through their excep-
tional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to honor
Larry Becker upon the occasion of his induction into the New York State
Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame as a Member of the Class of 2013 on Saturday,
April 27, 2013, at the New York State Outdoorsman Hall of Fame Annual
Banquet, to be held at The Rusty Rail in Canastota, New York; and
WHEREAS, Organized in 1983 as the Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame, the New
York State Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame (NYSOHOF) was formed to seek out and
honor those individuals who not only have exhibited genuine excellence
in hunting, fishing, trapping, and related outdoor sports, but have
demonstrated sincere and continuing dedication to natural resources
conservation; these individuals are honored "not for what they have
taken, but for what they have given"; and
WHEREAS, The NYSOHOF promotes, organizes and participates in activ-
ities which are directed toward youth, their education, and the educa-
tion of others with the belief that through a better understanding of
man's relationship with his environment comes a better understanding of
one's place and purpose therein; and
WHEREAS, Larry Becker of Gainesville, New York, is a leader and opin-
ion maker within the Western New York and statewide sportsmen community;
he has been a leading advocate for the concerns of sportsmen and an
articulate voice on behalf of conservationists everywhere; and
WHEREAS, The leadership of Larry Becker on issues affecting sportsmen
and conservationists in New York State is evidenced by his chairmanship
of the New York State Sportsmen's Advisory Council, a division of the
New York State Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus; and
WHEREAS, Larry Becker has had a lengthy and distinguished involvement
with the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF); he joined NWTF in 1987
and served the New York's Lake Plains Chapter, as well as serving the
Wyoming County Gobblers in a variety of roles, including as NWTF repre-
sentative for the Wyoming County Wildlife Federation of Sportsmen; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Larry Becker served as President of the New York
State Chapter of NWTF, as President of his local chapter, and Chairman
of the New York State Chapter Wild Turkey Woodlands Committee; and
WHEREAS, In 2013, Larry Becker was awarded a Latham Service Award for
his dedication in carrying out NWTF's mission of conserving wild turkeys
and preserving our hunting heritage; he knows that conservation and
hunting go hand-in-hand; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Larry Becker is a member of both the National
Rifle Association and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and has been
honored as the 2010 New York State Conservation Council Volunteer
Conservationist of the Year; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Larry Becker for his
extraordinary accomplishments which are a tribute to his skill, dedi-
cation and commitment; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations with
praise and pride to honor Larry Becker upon the occasion of his
induction into the New York State Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame as a Member
of the Class of 2013; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Larry Becker.
