LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Debbera Ransom upon the occasion of
being selected to carry the New York State Flag in the Presidential
Inaugural Parade on January 21, 2013

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Debbera Ransom has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Debbera Ransom
upon the occasion of being selected to carry the New York State Flag in
the Presidential Inaugural Parade on Monday, January 21, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Debbera Ransom marched during the Presidential Inaugural
Parade with the United War Veterans Council; and
WHEREAS, A Vietnam army veteran, Debbera Ransom held the rank of
Captain, and a position as one of the first Military Policewomen to be
stationed within infantry; and
WHEREAS, After her tour, Debbera Ransom was with the 591st Military
Police Company at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas; and
WHEREAS, Debbera Ransom has received numerous Letters of Appreciation
and a Certificate of Achievement for Outstanding Performance of Duty;
and
WHEREAS, As a professional wrestler, Debbera Ransom entertained the
audiences while in the wrestling ring across the United States and Cana-
da; she also wrestled internationally in Asia in the countries of Kuala
Lumpur, Ipoh, Kota Baru, and Malaysia; and
WHEREAS, Many of Debbera Ransom's wrestling events were fundraisers
for children with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Debbera Ransom has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A valued and involved member of her community, Debbera Ransom
is a volunteer for Kids Time Group Family Day Care; and
WHEREAS, Debbera Ransom is the founding Commander of a new AMVETS Post
and President of its chartered Ladies Auxiliary; and
WHEREAS, Debbera Ransom was a former mentor for the Honorable Judge
Robert Russell's Veterans' Court - the first of its kind in the nation;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Debbera Ransom has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her children, Cornelius, Pame-
la, and Kenneth, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life
and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Debbera Ransom has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Debbera Ransom upon the occasion of being selected to carry the
New York State Flag in the Presidential Inaugural Parade on January 21,
2013; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Debbera Ransom.
