LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Robert H. Hurlbut, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Robert Hurlbut of Honeoye Falls, New York, died on Monday,
March 4, 2013, at the age of 77; and
WHEREAS, In 1964, Robert Hurlbut became President of ROHM Services
Corporation, which he founded in Rochester, providing management and
consulting services for nursing homes in western New York; in 1992, he
became Chairman of the Board of ROHM Services Corporation; and
WHEREAS, Robert Hurlbut served as Chairman of the Board of both the
State Insurance Fund and the University of Rochester Medical Center; he
was a Trustee of the University of Rochester, Vice Chairman of the
University of Rochester Eastman Dental School and Foundation Board, and
Chairman of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra; and
WHEREAS, Robert Hurlbut distinguished himself in his profession and by
his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, Robert Hurlbut's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including charita-
ble and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Martha Hurlbut, Robert
Hurlbut is survived by his wife, Barbara, son, Robert W. (Sarah), daugh-
ter, Christine and his grandsons, Robert and Forrest; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Robert Hurlbut leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Robert H. Hurlbut, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Robert H. Hurlbut.
