LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Willie Stancil of Albany, New York,
upon the occasion of his retirement after 57 years of dedicated service
at Stancil's Barber Shop
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Willie Stancil of Albany, New York, upon the occasion of his retirement
after 57 years of dedicated service at Stancil's Barber Shop; and
WHEREAS, A United States Army veteran, Willie Stancil of Albany, New
York, learned to cut hair while serving in the Armed Forces of the
United States; and
WHEREAS, Now 83 years old, Willie Stancil opened Stancil's Barber Shop
in Albany, New York, in 1956; and
WHEREAS, Willie Stancil and his son, Willie Stancil, Jr., along with
three other barbers, provide services for both men and women; and
WHEREAS, Upon his retirement, Willie Stancil will relocate to High
Point, North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, Willie Stancil has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Willie Stancil has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Willie Stancil of Albany, New York, upon the occasion of his
retirement after 57 years of dedicated service at Stancil's Barber Shop;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Willie Stancil.
