LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Liberty Middle School 7th & 8th
Grade Band and Middle School Jazz Ensemble upon the occasion of their
participation in Music in Our Schools Month on March 19, 2013

WHEREAS, The administration of the Liberty Central School District,
including Daniel Parkhurst, President of the Board of Education, Dr.
William Silver, Superintendent of Schools, Carol Napolitano, Assistant
Superintendent of Schools, and Lorine Lamerand, District Business Manag-
er are committed to actively promoting and nurturing a full and compre-
hensive music program for all students; and
WHEREAS, Jack Strassman, Principal of Liberty Middle/High School and
Richard A. Schacher, Assistant Principal of Liberty Middle School, and
Gary E. Siegel, Director of Music have been supportive of the school's
music education program; and
WHEREAS, Gary E. Siegel, Director of the Liberty Middle School 7th &
8th Grade Band and Liberty Middle School Jazz Ensemble has encouraged
his students to perform at their highest level; and
WHEREAS, The Liberty Middle School 7th & 8th Grade Band and Middle
School Jazz Ensemble are comprised of students of great intellectual and
musical talent; and
WHEREAS, The Liberty Middle School 7th & 8th Grade Band and Middle
School Jazz Ensemble will be performing on March 19, 2013, at the Empire
State Plaza in Albany in celebration of "Music In Our Schools Month";
and
WHEREAS, The New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) sponsors
this event and has helped it to evolve from a New York State Day to a
month-long national observance; and
WHEREAS, Dedication, hard work and countless hours of practice have
made this fine musical ensemble the outstanding musical talent that it
is today; and
WHEREAS, The members work hard at their music rehearsals, classroom
assignments and practice sessions fully aware that the amount of time
and energy they are willing to expend directly affects the quality of
their music; and
WHEREAS, The members and their parents and teachers can be justifiably
and extremely proud of their musical achievements and in the partic-
ipation in "Music In Our Schools Month"; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
extend a warm welcome to the teachers and students of Liberty Middle
School as they visit Albany for their performance at the Empire State
Plaza; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution suitably engrossed, be trans-
mitted to Daniel Parkhurst, President of the Board of Education; Dr.
William Silver, Superintendent of Schools, Carol Napolitano, Assistant
Superintendent of Schools; Lorine Lamerand, Business Manager; Jack
Strassman, Principal of Liberty Middle/High School and Richard A.
Schacher, Assistant Principal of the Liberty Middle School; and Gary E.
Siegel, Liberty Central School District Director of Music.
