LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Ronald Uva upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Distinguished Service Award by the Amer-
ican College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those distinguished citizens who devote their time and ener-
gies to the service of their community and profession, participating in
civic affairs and enhancing the character and quality of life for all
citizens; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr.
Ronald Uva upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Distinguished Service Award by the American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists; and
WHEREAS, President of Oswego County OB GYN, P.C., Dr. Ronald Uva has
been on Oswego Hospital's active medical staff for more than 30 years;
he has taken an active role in his profession and has rendered distin-
guished service on several New York State medical boards; and
WHEREAS, In May 2012, Dr. Ronald Uva was presented with a Distin-
guished Service Award by the American College of Obstetricians and Gyne-
cologists (ACOG); he was named an ACOG 2012 John McCain Fellow; in addi-
tion, he has served on ACOG's national committee for professional
liability and has been its legislative chair; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ronald Uva has recently begun his second five-year term
on the New York State Board for Medicine; he is believed to be the first
physician from Oswego Health to be named to this prestigious Board; and
WHEREAS, In 2011, Dr. Ronald Uva was elected as Vice Chair of the New
York District of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecolo-
gists; and
WHEREAS, Active with the Medical Society of the State of New York, Dr.
Ronald Uva is the author of semi-annual book reviews for the Society; he
also writes a monthly column for the PALLADIUM-TIMES, "Today's Health
for the Empowered Woman"; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ronald Uva earned his undergraduate degree from the
University of Buffalo and attended medical school at the University of
Studies of Bologna, in Bologna, Italy; his residency was completed at
Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Dr. Ronald Uva;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Dr. Ronald Uva has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dr. Ronald Uva has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their profession and community,
and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence, certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Ronald Uva upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Distinguished Service Award by the American College of Obstetri-
cians and Gynecologists; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Ronald Uva.
