LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Dominick Carbone upon the occasion
of his nomination for the 2013 TIME Dealer of the Year Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those busi-
nesses within the State of New York which distinguish themselves through
outstanding professional behavior, corporate innovation, and enduring
commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Dominick Carbone upon the occasion of his nomination for the 2013
TIME Dealer of the Year Award, to be celebrated on February 9, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Dominick Carbone, director of the Carbone Auto Group in
Utica, New York, is one of a select group of 57 dealer nominees from
across the country who will be honored at the 96th annual National Auto-
mobile Dealers Association (NADA) Convention and Exposition in Orlando,
Florida; and
WHEREAS, The TIME Dealer of the Year Award is one of the automobile
industry's most prestigious and highly coveted honors; recipients are
among the nation's most successful auto dealers who also demonstrate a
long-standing commitment to community service; Dominick Carbone, was
chosen to represent the New York State Automobile Dealers Association in
the national competition; and
WHEREAS, Auto dealers play such an important role in the strength of
local communities across the United States; they are involved in many
philanthropic endeavors, contributing their time and resources to
improving the lives of people in need; and
WHEREAS, The connection to the auto business began when Dominick
Carbone's father opened a Studebaker dealership in Utica in the 1930s
and his family lived above the store; he graduated from New Hartford
High School in New Hartford, New York, in 1955, and earned a BS degree
in commerce from the University of Notre Dame; he then spent three years
in the United States Marine Corps, rising to the rank of first lieuten-
ant; and
WHEREAS, Upon returning home from the military, Dominick Carbone went
back to work in the family business and opened Don's Downtown Ford in
1968; today, the Carbone Auto Group encompasses more than 20 franchises
operating in 12 locations in New York and Vermont; in addition, Dominick
Carbone's daughter, son, nephew and two sons-in-law work for the family
enterprise; and
WHEREAS, In the area of community service, Dominick Carbone is on the
board of trustees for Utica College and a major benefactor, establishing
the Joseph and Inez Carbone Scholarship Fund in honor of his parents and
helping to fund a new auditorium; he is also on the board of the Commu-
nity Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties and the Kelberman Center,
as well as a supporter of the House of Good Shepherd, American Heart
Association, American Red Cross, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and founder
of the Resource Center for Independent Living's Wonderland of Lights;
and
WHEREAS, Dominick Carbone has donated money to many organizations,
including St. Elizabeth Medical Center for its new trauma building; in
addition, Carbone Auto Group awards two to four scholarships to the
children of employees and donates driver education vehicles to Utica-
area high schools; and
WHEREAS, Dominick Carbone is proud of his work for the United Way,
which resulted in the largest percentage increase in fundraising in his
area when he chaired the annual drive; he was honored to receive the

organization's Real Hero award and has received numerous honors for his
philanthropic efforts; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Edna, their four
children and 10 grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dominick Carbone upon the occasion of his nomination for
the 2013 TIME Dealer of the Year Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dominick Carbone.
