LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Hunter Richard upon the occasion
of capturing the 138-pound Division II wrestling title at the New York
State Public High School Athletic Association Wrestling Championships

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Hunter
Richard upon the occasion of capturing the 138-pound Division II wrestl-
ing title at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association
Wrestling Championships on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the Times
Union Center in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, A sophomore at Holland Patent Central High School in Holland
Patent, New York, Hunter Richard won his first New York State Wrestling
Championship after finishing in third place the previous year; and
WHEREAS, During the title match, this talented young athlete scored
eight points in the third period to take an exciting 8-7 decision victo-
ry over his opponent, a senior from Locust Valley High School; and
WHEREAS, Hunter Richard's overall record of 47-2 is outstanding, and
he was loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans, friends
and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, The hallmarks of Hunter Richard, from the opening match of
the season to participation in the championship, were a triumph of
athletic ability, good sportsmanship, honor, and scholarship, demon-
strating that this athlete is second to none; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, Hunter Richard has proven
himself to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favorably
on his school; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Hunter Richard has clearly made a contribution to
the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Hunter Richard upon the occasion of capturing the 138-pound
Division II wrestling title at the New York State Public High School
Athletic Association Wrestling Championships; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Hunter Richard.
