LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Harold Brown upon the occasion of his
retirement after 22 years of distinguished service as a Trustee of the
Village of Highland Falls, New York

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Harold Brown upon the occasion of his retirement after 22 years of
distinguished service as a Trustee of the Village of Highland Falls, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Harold Brown became a resident of Highland Falls, New York,
when he was stationed at West Point from 1953 to 1958; and
WHEREAS, Harold Brown proudly served his country with honor and
distinction as a member of the United States Army; and
WHEREAS, Harold Brown worked for the Highland Falls Fort Montgomery
Central School District before retiring after 12 and a half years of
devoted service; and
WHEREAS, On August 5, 1993, Harold Brown began serving as a Trustee
for the Village of Highland Falls; he officially retired on April 5,
2014, after 22 years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, Harold Brown has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; he is the past president and 17-year member of
the Afro American Men's Club, past member of the Auxiliary Police
Department, and member of the St. John's AME Zion Church, Blacks in
Government (West Point Organization), Highland's Senior Citizen Club,
American Legion, and the Town of Highlands Joint Recreation Commission;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, Harold Brown is the Chairman of the Board of
Trustees for AME Zion Church, member of the Chancellor Choir, and past
president of the Men's Choir; and
WHEREAS, Harold Brown has faithfully served as a Trustee of the
Village of Highland Falls; he will be remembered for his honesty, integ-
rity, keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of human
problems in his official acts; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 53 years, Regis,
and their six children, as well as 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grand-
children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Harold Brown and to wish him contin-
ued success in all his future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Harold Brown upon the occasion of his retirement after 22 years of
distinguished service as a Trustee of the Village of Highland Falls, New
York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Harold Brown.
