LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Hoosic Valley's Colin Claus upon
the occasion of his selection as the Top State Scholar-Athlete for Class
D Football by the New York State High School Football Coaches Associ-
ation

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young athletes and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplish-
ments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Hoosic Valley's Colin Claus upon the occasion of his selection as
the Top State Scholar-Athlete for Class D Football by the New York State
High School Football Coaches Association; and
WHEREAS, Colin Claus, a senior at Hoosic Valley High School, is being
recognized for his outstanding achievements both as an athlete on the
football field and as an exceptional student in the classroom; and
WHEREAS, As quarterback for the Hoosic Valley High School Indians,
Colin Claus led his team to its best season in school history; he also
contributed strongly to his team as a defensive player, and was present
on the field for almost every down of the season; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Colin Claus, a
straight A student, maintained an impressive course of study, which
included many college level classes; upon graduating, he plans to attend
college and major in Mechanical Engineering; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar-athlete now stands honorably with just pride in his accomplish-
ments and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and
appreciating the caring counsel and support provided by his teachers,
coaches and parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Hoosic Valley's Colin Claus upon the occasion of his
selection as the Top State Scholar-Athlete for Class D Football by the
New York State High School Football Coaches Association; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Colin Claus.
