LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mary Theresa Streck upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Community Citizenship Award by the
Troy Rehabilitation and Improvement Program and Rensselaer County Hous-
ing Resources

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Mary
Theresa Streck upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Community Citizenship Award by the Troy Rehabilitation and Improvement
Program (TRIP) and Rensselaer County Housing Resources (RCHR) at the
TRIP and RCHR Homecoming Dinner on Monday, October 27, 2014, at the
Franklin Terrace Ballroom in Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, The mission of TRIP and RCHR is to connect individuals and
families with resources and knowledge to live in desirable homes and
create vibrant sustainable communities; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1968, TRIP has rehabbed more than 300
units in over 128 buildings; it owns and/or manages more than 220 units
of rental housing in the City of Troy, and has developed and sold homes
to more than 85 first-time home buyers; and
WHEREAS, Since 1998, RCHR has helped over 100 families purchase homes
and assisted over 1500 households through its mini-repair program; and
WHEREAS, Mary Theresa Streck earned her Bachelor of Science in Elemen-
tary Education with Fine Arts from Russell Sage College, and her Master
of Science in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz; in addition, she
attained an Master of Science in Reading Education and her Doctor of
Education in Educational Leadership from Sage Graduate College, as well
as a Certificate in Advanced Study in Administration from the Massachu-
setts College of Liberal Arts; and
WHEREAS, Currently a Doctor of Ministry candidate at Global Ministries
University, this esteemed woman has been the principal of Ark Community
Charter School in Troy, New York since 2003; and
WHEREAS, Mary Theresa Streck has also served diligently as a member of
the New York State Amistad Commission, and as a member of Sage Colleges
Education Advisory Committee; she has also contributed her expertise to
the Advisory Board/Education Committee of the HUD-RPI Community Outreach
Partnership Center in the City of Troy; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mary Theresa Streck upon the occasion of her designation as recip-
ient of the Community Citizenship Award by the Troy Rehabilitation and
Improvement Program and Rensselaer County Housing Resources; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mary Theresa Streck.
