LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Ray and Susan Bazini upon the occasion
of being named this year's honorees at the Congregation Beth Tikvah's
Annual Journal Dinner

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Ray and Susan Bazini have given not only of their time and
energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Ray and
Susan Bazini upon the occasion of being named this year's honorees at
the Congregation Beth Tikvah's Annual Journal Dinner, to be celebrated
on Sunday, June 14, 2015, in Wantagh, New York; and
WHEREAS, Congregation Beth Tikvah is a conservative Jewish synagogue
formed from the consolidation of three synagogues, the former Farming-
dale Jewish Center, the former Wantagh Jewish Center and the former
Israel Community Center of Levittown; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Beth Tikvah, or "House of Hope," proudly func-
tions as a multifaceted religious center, providing vibrant spiritual
and educational services throughout the community; and
WHEREAS, Ray and Susan Bazini have been called upon to contribute
their time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and
have always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Born in Israel, Ray Bazini and his family moved to London in
1957, when Egypt declared war on his homeland; they returned to Israel a
few years later, and in 1961, when he was just 12 years old, the family
moved to Brooklyn, New York before settling in Levittown, Long Island
just months later; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from Division Avenue High School, Ray Bazini
served his country with distinction in the 75th Ranger Regiment, an
elite special operations force of the United States Army; due to his
exceptional skill and bravery, he became a combat veteran and earned the
rank of Sergeant during one of the most challenging times in American
history; and
WHEREAS, Upon his return home from the service, Ray Bazini attended
college in Springfield, Massachusetts; and
WHEREAS, Susan Bazini was born in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to
Seaford as a young child; a retired nurse, she works as the bookkeeper
for the family business; and
WHEREAS, Coming from opposite sides of the world, Ray's cousin intro-
duced him to Susan in 1970, when both of their families were members of
the Israel Community Center in Levittown; the loving couple, married
nearly 45 years, have devoted their lives to their families while serv-
ing the community, the nation, and the synagogue; and
WHEREAS, Ray and Susan Bazini have four children, all of whom became
bar and bat mitzvah at the former Wantagh Jewish Center; they have also
been blessed with five grandchildren who are the love of their lives;
and
WHEREAS, The Bazini family have been members of Congregation Beth
Tikvah since 1979, contributing greatly to the dynamic growth of its
shul; Susan is a member of the Sisterhood and assists in setting up the
synagogue for the High Holidays; Ray davens at services and is currently
President of the congregation; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Ray and Susan Bazini have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Ray and Susan Bazini have displayed
throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Ray and Susan Bazini upon the occasion of being named this
year's honorees at the Congregation Beth Tikvah's Annual Journal Dinner;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ray and Susan Bazini.
