LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Louis G. Pastina upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2015 Charter Award by St. Francis
College at its Annual Dinner

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Louis G.
Pastina upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2015
Charter Award by St. Francis College at its Annual Dinner, to be held on
Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at the Marriott Marquis, New York, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Louis G. Pastina earned a degree in accounting from St. Fran-
cis College, Brooklyn Heights, New York; while a student, he held the
title of Master of Ceremonies for the Pi Alpha fraternity; and
WHEREAS, Today, Louis G. Pastina continues to actively support his
alma mater, serving as a member of the advisory board of the St. Francis
College Center for Entrepreneurship; and
WHEREAS, After 31 years of dedicated service, Louis G. Pastina recent-
ly retired from the esteemed position of Executive Vice President of the
New York Stock Exchange (NYSE); during his tenure, he led the organiza-
tion through the most transformational changes in its history, and
pioneered several industry initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Under his remarkable leadership, Louis G. Pastina guided the
NYSE product line, including the iconic NYSE trading floor and its elec-
tronic trading business through traumatic and volatile trading markets
as a result of the United States Financial Meltdown of 2008-2009, the
2010 Flash Crash, the Knight Capital trading issue, Hurricane Sandy, and
the highly successful Twitter IPO; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his extensive board and committee service
related to NYSE, Louis G. Pastina is a founding member of three not-for-
profit charitable organizations, including The Graybeards, Ltd., The
Change of Tours Foundation, Inc., and The Grayriders; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Louis G. Pastina upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2015 Charter Award by St. Francis College at its Annual Dinner;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Louis G. Pastina.
