LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Price Chopper upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the Business of the Year Award by the Pride
Center of the Capital Region

WHEREAS, From time to time, this Legislative Body takes note of certain
organizations that it wishes to recognize for having given of their time
and energies to serve the best interests of their communities and to
publicly acknowledge their service; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Price Chopper upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the
Business of the Year Award by the Pride Center of the Capital Region
which was celebrated at the Center's annual Gala on Friday, October 24,
2014, at Hilton Albany in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Pride Center of the Capital Region is dedicated to serv-
ing the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in the
Albany area, and has been meeting the diverse needs of the LGBT popu-
lation since 1970; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the Pride Center holds a Gala to raise needed
funds for the Center's fundamental programs and services, including its
youth and senior programs; and
WHEREAS, Price Chopper, one of the largest corporations in the Capital
Region, continues to support the efforts of the local community through
its many contributions to various causes; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed business has been a longtime supporter of the
Pride Center of the Capital Region and other LGBTQ initiatives; and
WHEREAS, As a corporate sponsor, Price Chopper ensures that their
partner organizations are inclusive, and helps foster greater overall
inclusivity; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of its community service, Price
Chopper has taken its commitment above and beyond the call of the major-
ity of businesses; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by a company
for the benefit of others which Price Chopper has displayed; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Price Chopper upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the Business of the Year Award by the Pride Center of the Capital
Region; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Price Chopper.
