LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring The Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition by the Parish of
Mater Christi on April 18, 2015

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals and organizations which
distinguish themselves through their unremitting commitment and service
to humanity; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor The
Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Parish of Mater Christi to be celebrated at
its 9th Annual Spring Fling on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the Albany
Country Club, Voorheesville, New York; and
WHEREAS, The congregation of Mater Christi is also elated to wish
Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle a very Happy 75th Birthday; may this special
day be just the beginning of a year filled with happy memories, and many
wonderful moments; and
WHEREAS, Born on April 3, 1940, in Troy, New York, to W. Kenneth and
Sallie Doyle, Kenneth J. Doyle graduated from Catholic Central High
School, Valedictorian for the Class of 1957; and
WHEREAS, Following high school, Kenneth J. Doyle attended Mater
Christi Seminary and graduated two years later with an Associate of Arts
degree; furthering his education, he studied at Basselin College at the
Catholic University of America, in Washington, DC, obtaining his Master
of Arts degree in Philosophy in 1962; he also studied at Theological
College, Catholic University of America, in Washington, DC from 1962
until 1966; and
WHEREAS, On May 28, 1966, Kenneth J. Doyle was ordained a Priest at
the Diocese of Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Following his ordination, Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle served
his community with much loyalty and devotion in numerous capacities
including Instructor in Religion at Cardinal McCloskey High School,
Associate Pastor of Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, Editor of THE
EVANGELIST; and Chaplain of both Kenwood Academy of the Sacred Heart and
Doane Stuart School; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle served St. John's
Parish in Valatie, New York, as a Weekend Parish Associate; Bureau Chief
for the National Catholic News Service in Rome, Italy; Information Offi-
cer of the United States Catholic Conference, Washington, DC; Director
of Government Relations, New York State Catholic Conference, Albany, New
York; and Director for Media Relations, United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops, Washington, DC; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his seminary training, Reverend Kenneth J.
Doyle attended Albany Law School, obtaining his Juris Doctor in 1978;
subsequently, he was admitted to the New York State Bar; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle is the Pastor of the
Parish of Mater Christi, Albany, New York, a position he has held since
1992, as well as Chancellor, since 2000, for Public Information, Diocese
of Albany; and
WHEREAS, As Pastor, Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle was instrumental in
overseeing the construction and opening of the Mater Christi, the last
church to have been built in the Diocese; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle has brought to his ministry an
overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and
enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties,
while always displaying the highest standards of personal and profes-
sional integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, Today, he serves as Chairman of the Albany County Airport
Authority Board, and a Board Member of St. Peter's Health Partners;
Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle is also the author of a question and answer
weekly column circulated in more than 100 Catholic publications; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has adminis-
tered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal needs of
all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle, noting his unremitting and
compassionate faith and his exemplary service to God, man, and his
community, and extending to him best wishes on a very Happy Birthday;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle.
