LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Leslie and Barry Feinman upon the occa-
sion of their designation as recipients of the Pillars of the Community
Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors,
and community service are an example and inspiration to their
colleagues, friends, family, and community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Leslie and Barry Feinman upon the occasion of their designation as
recipients of the Pillars of the Community Award by the Sidney Albert
Albany Jewish Community Center, to be celebrated at its 15th Annual
Pillars of the Community Awards Brunch on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at
Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this prestigious award ceremony recognizes indi-
viduals for their contributions to the Center and the Jewish Community
at large by acting as moral pillars and dispensers of wisdom and advice,
providing continued service and leadership, and acting generously in the
spirit of Tzedakah; Leslie and Barry Feinman are receiving this auspi-
cious award for their Jewish leadership in the community; and
WHEREAS, Barry Feinman graduated from the State University of New York
at Albany, in 1984, he entered the business industry; today, he is a
partner in Vanguard-Fine, Safe Storage, a company which develops retail
stores, plazas, warehouses, and institutional investments; and
WHEREAS, A licensed Real Estate Broker, Barry Feinman is both a found-
ing member and past President of New York State Self Storage Associ-
ation, and a participant of the Commercial and Industrial Real Estate
Board (CIREB), as well as the International Council of Shopping Centers
(ICSC); and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Leslie and Barry Feinman have stood
constant in dignity, good grace, and humor and have earned the respect
and admiration of their colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, As a child, Barry Feinman attended afterschool programs,
camps, sports programs, and other youth activities at the Jewish Commu-
nity Center (JCC); currently, he remains dedicated to this essential
organization, holding several positions on the Center's Board; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure as President of the JCC Board, Barry
Feinman was committed to making sure the Center finances were in order,
and raising community awareness about the many lives that the Center
touches each and every day with its enriching and supportive services;
and
WHEREAS, Leslie Feinman graduated from Albany Business College; she
held various management positions until she was hired at the Albany
Academy for Boys; and
WHEREAS, When her youngest child was born, Leslie Feinman dedicated
her time to raising her family; after her children became more independ-
ent, she returned to work with her husband at Vanguard-Fine, where she
helps coordinate the marketing, trade shows, and promotional work for
the company; and
WHEREAS, Active in their community, Leslie Feinman and her children
proudly serve meals to seniors at the JCC; in addition, she works at the
Health Fair; and
WHEREAS, Leslie Feinman has been a team leader for a group of friends
who ride with her at the Tour de Cure, where she helped raise signif-
icant funds for the organization; she also helped organize a Make-A-Wish
Foundation Gala, and volunteers for The Jewish Federation's ROAR
Program, helping children who are having difficulty reading; and
WHEREAS, With them throughout have been their three children, Benja-
min, Erika, and Sam, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of their
life and rejoice in their achievements; and
WHEREAS, The Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center provides a
nurturing environment where individuals and families can grow and devel-
op in mind, body, and spirit; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization's core values are rooted in Jewish
principles, representing the interests, concerns, and perspectives of
the Jewish community, and the community at large, and welcomes all
members regardless of their faith or background; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Leslie and Barry Feinman have displayed
throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Leslie and Barry Feinman upon the occasion of their designation as
recipients of the Pillars of the Community Award by the Sidney Albert
Albany Jewish Community Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Leslie and Barry Feinman.
