LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Cornwall Little League upon the occa-
sion of celebrating its 65th Anniversary on April 11, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those endur-
ing organizations which faithfully devote their resources and purposeful
energies to fostering opportunities and contributing to the quality of
life for the youth of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, An established American institution, Little League provides a
structure for the athletic competition which enhances the moral and
physical development of the young people of this State, preparing them
for the future by establishing the value of teamwork, encouraging a
standard of healthy living, instilling an ambition for success, and
developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Cornwall Little League upon the occasion of celebrating its 65th Anni-
versary, and to recognize the founders for their dedication to young
citizens of the town; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious event will begin on Saturday, April 11, 2015,
with a parade of players and coaches at the Town Hall in Cornwall,
followed by Opening Day ceremonies on Ed Doty Field at the Curtis A.
Remfrey, Jr. Little League Complex; and
WHEREAS, Cornwall Little League began in 1951 with four teams and 48
players; today, more than 500 boys and girls ages five through 17 are
registered, and there are over 200 volunteers who give of their time to
this valuable organization; and
WHEREAS, Cornwall Little League is under the outstanding leadership of
President John Carnright; and
WHEREAS, This milestone anniversary presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Cornwall Little League;
and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention
to organizations such as Cornwall Little League which serve to bring
people together for a united purpose and serve the recreational needs of
the youth of the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Cornwall Little League upon the occasion of celebrating its 65th
Anniversary on April 11, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Carnright, President, Cornwall Little League.
