LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mary Etta Schneider upon the occasion of
her designation as a 2015 SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame
inductee as Business Person of the Year

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Mary
Etta Schneider upon the occasion of her designation as a 2015 SUNY New
Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame inductee as Business Person of the
Year, to be celebrated with an Induction Ceremony on Thursday, May 14,
2015, at the Wiltwyck Golf Club, Kingston, New York; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Mary Etta Schneider has
continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence
and diligent leadership in her unwavering service to both her community
and profession and consequently has been selected for this most presti-
gious honor; and
WHEREAS, An accomplished graduate of the SUNY system and a successful
leader in the banking industry for decades, Mary Etta Schneider is Pres-
ident and Board Chair of Historic Huguenot Street, an organization with
a mission to engage, educate, and challenge a diverse audience by
collecting, preserving, and interpreting the buildings, objects, docu-
ments, and stories of the Huguenots' multicultural journey in America;
and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Mary Etta Schneider, the
partnership between SUNY New Paltz and Huguenot Street has grown tremen-
dously, with interns participating each semester from a wide range of
departments, including history, political science, international
relations, theater, communications and marketing, media production, and
archaeology; and
WHEREAS, Mary Etta Schneider has a long history of success in the
world of finance and banking; she began her illustrious career with the
Federal Reserve Bank of New York, representing the Federal Reserve
System at the Center for Latin American Monetary Studies in Mexico; and
WHEREAS, As her career progressed, Mary Etta Schneider worked at the
executive level of BankBoston, FleetBoston Financial and Bank of Ameri-
ca; in her last banking role, she was head of Bank of America's global
corporate banking division; and
WHEREAS, Today, Mary Etta Schneider is an advisor and fundraiser for
major nonprofit organizations benefiting education, history, the arts
and other charitable causes; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Mary Etta Schneider has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed woman has won International and Dow Jones-spon-
sored awards in economics while graduating cum laude with a Bachelor's
degree in Mathematics and Economics from the State University of New
York at Oswego; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Mary Etta Schneider has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mary Etta Schneider upon the occasion of her designation as a 2015
SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame inductee as Business
Person of the Year, and to wish her continued success in all of her
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mary Etta Schneider.
