LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Loraine Magaraci upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2015 West Hempstead Person of the
Year Award by the West Hempstead Community Support Association
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Loraine Magaraci has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Loraine Maga-
raci upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2015 West
Hempstead Person of the Year Award by the West Hempstead Community
Support Association; this momentous occasion was celebrated on Tuesday,
March 24, 2015, at the West Hempstead Middle School; and
WHEREAS, Loraine Magaraci has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of West Hempstead, New York, Loraine
Magaraci has truly dedicated her life to her family and community; she
has held several positions within the West Hempstead PTA and PTSA,
currently serving as Co-President of the PTSA; and
WHEREAS, Loraine Magaraci's steadfast devotion to her three children
encompasses a wide variety of volunteer activities where she has partic-
ipated and held leadership roles both within and outside the school
community; and
WHEREAS, For the past 10 years, Loraine Magaraci has been a tireless
supporter of West Hempstead's local soccer and football clubs; she
founded and organized the Bronco's Youth Cheerleading Team, which she
has coached since its inception, and formerly served on the Bronco's
Football Club Board; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her work with the Bronco's, Loraine Magaraci
coaches the West Hempstead Chief's Soccer Club senior boys, where she
also serves on the Board; she has been actively involved in Relay for
Life and was recently asked to be a member of the West Hempstead Library
Strategic Planning Committee; and
WHEREAS, Truly committed to the well-being of her community, Loraine
Magaraci was instrumental in the relief efforts after Hurricane Sandy
devastated Island Park; she helped serve meals and worked to sort and
deliver clothing and food to local residents; and
WHEREAS, Loraine Magaraci is a true leader and brings her enthusi-
astic, energetic and positive spirit to every organization with which
she works; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Loraine Magaraci has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her loving husband, Joe, and
their three beautiful children, Joseph, Ashley and Nicholas, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Loraine Magaraci has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Loraine Magaraci upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2015 West Hempstead Person of the Year Award by the West Hemp-
stead Community Support Association, and to wish her continued success
in all of her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Loraine Magaraci.
