LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Tony and Gina Argento upon the occasion
of being named 2015 Gala Honorees by the Federation of Italian American
Organizations of Brooklyn
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Tony and Gina Argento have given not only of their time and
energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Tony and Gina
Argento upon the occasion of being named 2015 Gala Honorees by the
Federation of Italian American Organizations of Brooklyn, to be cele-
brated at its 38th Annual Fundraising Gala on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at
El Caribe Country Club in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Tony and Gina Argento have been called upon to contribute
their time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and
have always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, In 1985, Tony Argento bought and renovated a movie theater
and began a company named Broadway Stages; and
WHEREAS, Today, after three decades in the film business, the Argentos
have more than half a million square feet of space covering 24 stages
and ancillary spaces; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Tony and Gina Argento, Broad-
way Stages has earned a golden reputation with major television networks
as well as with the largest movie studios in the world; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this esteemed company is home to such renowned
television series as "The Good Wife", CBS; "Royal Pains", USA; "Blue
Bloods", CBS; "Smash", NBC; "Deception", NBC; and "Golden Boy", WB; and
WHEREAS, In addition to making a profound impact on film production in
New York City, Tony and Gina Argento strive to make Brooklyn a better
place to live and work, dedicating themselves entirely to the community;
and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to protecting our
planet, Tony and Gina Argento are responsible for creating the first
organic rooftop garden, building the largest solar rooftop panel project
in New York City, and organizing community cleanups of an ecologically-
condemned site during Earth Week; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Argentos have tirelessly supported local
school programs and sponsored countless neighborhood street fairs; they
were also instrumental in covering rooftops throughout the city with
energy efficient coatings during NYC Climate Week in support of the
Energy Conservation "Cool Roofs" initiative; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Tony and Gina Argento have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Tony and Gina Argento have displayed
throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Tony and Gina Argento upon the occasion of being named 2015 Gala
Honorees by the Federation of Italian American Organizations of Brook-
lyn, and to wish them continued success in all of their future endeav-
ors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tony and Gina Argento.
