LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Harold Smith, Jr. upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the 2015 SULLIVAN COUNTY
DEMOCRAT Men at Work Edition

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Harold Smith, Jr. has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Harold Smith,
Jr. upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
2015 SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT Men at Work Edition; and
WHEREAS, An esteemed resident of Jeffersonville, New York, Harold
Smith, Jr. holds an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice; and
WHEREAS, Harold Smith, Jr. began his illustrious career in law
enforcement more than three decades ago; he currently serves as Jail
Administrator and Chief of Civil Division for the Sullivan County Sher-
iff's Office; and
WHEREAS, As the highest ranking officer in the jail and civil divi-
sion, Harold Smith, Jr. works directly with the Sheriff to set and
enforce policies and procedures in both divisions; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his loving wife of 25 years,
Jean, and their children, Tim (Christina), Jim (Amanda), Rob (Machenka),
Harold III and Kaitlyn, as well as three grandchildren, Arianna, Colton
and Wyatt, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Harold Smith, Jr. has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Harold Smith, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the 2015 SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT Men at Work Edition;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Harold Smith, Jr.
