LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Steven Alhona upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the 2015 SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT
Men at Work Edition

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Steven Alhona has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Steven Alhona
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the 2015
SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT Men at Work Edition; and
WHEREAS, Raised in Suffolk, Virginia, Steven Alhona graduated from
Nansemond River High School before earning his degree from Chowan
University in Murfreesboro, North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, A Recruiter at SUNY Sullivan, Steven Alhona represents the
institution at college fair programs throughout New York State, as well
as in neighboring states; he also participates in events for prospective
students, their families and guidance counselors throughout the year,
including Registration Day, College Night and Discover SUNY Sullivan
Day; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he conducts tours of the campus and works with
regional guidance counselors to market college opportunities to high
school students; and
WHEREAS, Prior to his position with SUNY Sullivan, Steven Alhona was
the Baseball Coach at Marist College, Georgetown University and Virginia
Wesleyan College; and
WHEREAS, Truly committed to the wellbeing of his community, Steven
Alhona serves as the Hudson Valley Region Player Coordinator for the
Empire State Prospect Games, a baseball showcase which raises money for
childhood cancer; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife, Chrystine, who feels
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoices in his achievements;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Steven Alhona has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Steven Alhona upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the 2015 SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT Men at Work Edition;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Steven Alhona.
