LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Edward Dobosiewicz upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Bronislaus Durewicz/Henry Maziarczyk
Award by the Western New York Division of the Polish American Congress

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Edward Dobosiewicz upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Bronislaus Durewicz/Henry Maziarczyk Award by the Western New York
Division of the Polish American Congress, to be celebrated at its Annual
Swieconka and Awards Banquet on Saturday, April 11, 2015, in Buffalo,
New York; and
WHEREAS, The blessing of the Easter food, or Swieconka, is the tradi-
tional Easter meal which the Polish share to celebrate the Resurrection;
and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Edward Dobosiewicz has contin-
ually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence and
diligent leadership in his unwavering service to both his community and
profession and consequently has been selected for this most prestigious
honor; and
WHEREAS, Edward Dobosiewicz serves as a Channel 7 contributor as well
as the producer and host of the Dyngus Day Diary, a program which was
recently nominated for an Emmy Award; and
WHEREAS, Historically a Polish-American tradition, Dyngus Day cele-
brates the end of the Christian observance of Lent and the joy of East-
er; over the decades, Dyngus Day has become a holiday to celebrate
Polish-American culture; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Edward Dobosiewicz is also co-host of "Off Beat
Cinema" airing every Saturday at midnight on WBBZ-TV, and over 100
stations across the country; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Edward Dobosiewicz has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Edward Dobosiewicz has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Edward Dobosiewicz upon the occasion of his designation as recipi-
ent of the Bronislaus Durewicz/Henry Maziarczyk Award by the Western New
York Division of the Polish American Congress, and to wish him continued
success in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Edward Dobosiewicz.
