LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jane Rubinstein upon the occasion of her
designation as a 2015 Long Island Center for Business and Professional
Women Achiever

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding individuals who distinguish themselves through their excep-
tional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jane
Rubinstein upon the occasion of her designation as a 2015 Long Island
Center for Business and Professional Women Achiever; this auspicious
occasion will be celebrated at the Center's 36th Annual Achievers'
Awards Gala, to be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015; and
WHEREAS, For more than 35 years, the Long Island Center for Business
and Professional Women has been dedicated to advancing women in busi-
ness, industry and the professions; and
WHEREAS, The Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women
celebrate and honor women who are leaders, mentors and who have opened
doors for other women to help foster their rise in business, the
professions and in their community; Jane Rubinstein is one such individ-
ual; and
WHEREAS, Jane Rubinstein was raised in Hicksville, Long Island, with
her two brothers, and second generation Italian-American parents; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Merrick, New York for the past 31 years, Jane
Rubinstein attended the State University College at New Paltz, majoring
in Art Education, and minoring in Music; she went on to obtain her
Master's Degree at the State University at Albany, and earned a certif-
ication in Industrial Arts at the University of Maine; and
WHEREAS, Jane Rubinstein's passionate working career consisted of
teaching art and Industrial Arts in grades K-12; in 2008, she retired
from public school teaching, and went on to teach at private schools
until 2011; and
WHEREAS, Today, Jane Rubinstein is a full time artist, devoting her
time and art skills to charity, volunteering, and various vital organ-
izations and causes in her community, including local theaters, schools,
libraries, hospitals, fundraisers for breast cancer, veterans, and 911
fund, just to name a few; and
WHEREAS, Jane Rubinstein is most known for painting store windows
during the holidays for the Jason Gruen Foundation, dedicated to helping
children with sudden death heart disease; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman has been the recipient of numerous
awards and accolades for her community charity work including the Path-
finder Award as Volunteer of the Year by Nassau County, and the Town of
Hempstead Making a Difference Award; Jane has also been recognized in
the NEW YORK TIMES, NEWSDAY, and many other local publications; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Jane Rubinstein's life size fiberglass horse,
which she submitted for the "Horse of a Different Color" Campaign for
the County Parks and Recreation Department, was displayed at the Mineola
Courthouse, Merrick's Town Square, and in Belmont Park; and
WHEREAS, Recently, Jane Rubinstein was crowned Ms. New York Senior
America 2014, and has spent countless hours proudly promoting a positive
image of aging, and showing the value, grace, dignity, vitality, and

talent of women over 60; her mission is to continue to put a positive
focus on the senior community; and
WHEREAS, Today, Jane Rubinstein enjoys art, dance, competitive equest-
rian horse-back riding, travel, classical piano, and theater; at the age
of 56, she started taking ballroom dance lessons, participating in
competitions throughout the country, and winning several championships;
and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband of 31 years, Jack,
and their two children Aaron and Glenn, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their profession and community,
and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence, certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jane Rubinstein upon the occasion of her designation as a 2015
Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women Achiever; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jane Rubinstein.
