LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Cathy Pircsuk upon the occasion of her
retirement after many years of distinguished service to WWNY/WNYF
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Cathy Pirc-
suk upon the occasion of her retirement after many years of distin-
guished service to WWNY/WNYF; and
WHEREAS, Cathy Pircsuk graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School
in Norwood, New York, and then went on to graduate from both the State
University of New York at Geneseo, and the University of Missouri; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduation, Cathy Pircsuk was employed in both Missouri
and Georgia; in 1979, she returned to northern New York and began her
career at television station WWNY/WNYF; and
WHEREAS, Cathy Pircsuk rose through the ranks at WWNY/WNYF, serving in
roles with increasing responsibility, including News Anchor, Assignment
Editor, News Director, as well as General Manager, and Divisional Vice
President, the esteemed position from which she will officially retire;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout her illustrious career, Cathy Pircsuk oversaw many
significant changes, comprising the station's move from film to vide-
otape to a tapeless environment, as well as its transition from analog
to high definition digital broadcasting; and
WHEREAS, Cathy Pircsuk has devoted her time to a number of profes-
sional boards such as the New York State Broadcasters Association, the
Radio-TV News Directors Association, and the Excellus Blue Cross Advi-
sory Board of Central New York; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her career, Cathy Pircsuk has been an active
member of her community, working to support a number of worthy organiza-
tions including the Northern New York Community Foundation, the Clayton
Opera House, the Fort Drum Regional Liaison Organization, North Country
Public Radio, United Way, the American Red Cross, Hospice, and the North
Country Children's Clinic; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of the North Country region as a whole; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Cathy Pircsuk upon the occasion of her retirement after many
years of distinguished service to WWNY/WNYF; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cathy Pircsuk.
