LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Patricia Brintle upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the prestigious Mother's Day Award by
the National Action Network and Gateway Christian Center
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Patricia Brintle upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the prestigious Mother's Day Award by the National Action Network and
Gateway Christian Center, to be celebrated at its Government Gala Awards
Ceremony, on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Jericho Terrace, Mineola, New
York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award is given to women who have demonstrated
exemplary works, services, and commitment to the people of her communi-
ty; Patricia Brintle truly deserves this honor for her contributions to
the citizens of Haiti; and
WHEREAS, Patricia Brintle was born and raised in Haiti; in 1964, she
immigrated to the United States; and
WHEREAS, Proud of her Haitian heritage, Patricia Brintle holds the
title of President of From Here to Haiti, Ltd. (FHTH), a non-profit
all-volunteer charity organization which is helping to repair and
rebuild Haiti after the devastating earthquake in 2010; and
WHEREAS, FHTH focuses on repairing non-governmental buildings used for
public assembly, and assisting to rebuild provinces where the need is
the greatest; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization is unique, providing a hands-on
approach wherein participants of the Board of FHTH travel to the site to
work alongside community members in order to finish the task in about a
week; within four years, FHTH has completed over 18 projects; and
WHEREAS, Patricia Brintle is also a self-taught Artist; her approach
to painting is varied; she does not follow any particular school but
rather lets her rich cultural history guide her creative muse; every one
of her paintings expresses the universality of human emotions; and
WHEREAS, Patricia Brintle's works address strong issues such as nucle-
ar disarmament, the Holocaust, and the Haitian earthquake; several of
her pieces have graced the covers and pages of books, magazines, and
publications; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman donates most of the profits from the
sale of her artworks to From Here to Haiti, Ltd.; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Patricia Brintle upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the prestigious Mother's Day Award by the National Action Network and
Gateway Christian Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Patricia Brintle, the National Action Network, and the Gate-
way Christian Center.
