LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Stephanie Delia, Esq. upon the occasion
of her designation as recipient of the prestigious Mother's Day Award by
the National Action Network and Gateway Christian Center
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those individuals within the legal field who distinguish
themselves through professional excellence and who have made significant
contributions to the quality of life of citizens in the State of New
York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Stephanie Delia, Esq., upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the prestigious Mother's Day Award by the National Action Network and
Gateway Christian Center, to be celebrated at its Government Gala Awards
Ceremony, on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Jericho Terrace, Mineola, New
York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award is given to women who have demonstrated
exemplary works, services, and commitment to the people of her communi-
ty; Stephanie Delia, Esq., truly deserves this honor for her contrib-
utions to society; and
WHEREAS, At the young age of seven, Stephanie Delia and her parents
immigrated from Haiti to the United States; she has lived in New York
City ever since; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Delia earned her bachelor's degree from the John
Jay College of Criminal Justice, in New York City; she then went on to
obtain her Juris Doctor degree from Thomas Cooley Law School in Michi-
gan; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Stephanie Delia, Esq., is a member of the New York
State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, and the
Haitian American Lawyers Association of New York; and
WHEREAS, A well-respected Immigration Attorney, Stephanie Delia, Esq.,
is the owner/operator of Delia Advocates, LLP, a flourishing private
practice in the Financial District of New York City; in addition, she
works with one of the largest non-profit immigration organizations in
the country, CUNY Citizenship Now, where she provides free immigration
services in low-income communities throughout the Tri-state area; and
WHEREAS, Proud of her Haitian roots, Stephanie Delia, Esq., is honored
to serve the immigrant population in numerous legal matters, including
Temporary Protected Status (TPS), both renewals and late initial regis-
trations; adjustment of status, with and without inadmissibility issues,
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA); naturalization applica-
tions, with and without deportability and inadmissibility issues; deriv-
ative and acquisition of citizenship, travel documents, document
renewals, and deportations; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Stephanie Delia, Esq., holds the title of Chief
of Staff and Counselor of the National Action Network West Nassau Chap-
ter; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Delia, Esq., has also given numerous immigration
presentations to various colleges and non-profit organizations, such as
the National Action Network; she also coordinates and participates in
several Temporary Protected Status and Naturalization pro bona document
assistance events; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Stephanie Delia, Esq., upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the prestigious Mother's Day Award by the National Action
Network and Gateway Christian Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stephanie Delia, Esq., the National Action Network, and the
Gateway Christian Center.
