LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Margalie Rodriguez, Esq. upon the occa-
sion of her designation as recipient of the prestigious Mother's Day
Award by the National Action Network and Gateway Christian Center
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Margalie Rodriguez, Esq. upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the prestigious Mother's Day Award by the National Action Network
and Gateway Christian Center, to be celebrated at its Government Gala
Awards Ceremony, on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Jericho Terrace, Mineola,
New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award is given to women who have demonstrated
exemplary works, services, and commitment to the people of their commu-
nities; Margalie Rodriguez, Esq. truly deserves this honor for her
contributions to her Brooklyn neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Margalie Rodriguez, Esq. received her bachelor's degree from
Brooklyn College; she then went on to earn her Master's degree in both
International Law and International Relations from St. John's Universi-
ty, New York City; and
WHEREAS, Margalie Rodriguez, Esq. obtained two law degrees from Touro
Law Center, Central Islip, New York; and
WHEREAS, New York State Attorney Margalie Rodriguez is employed with a
private law firm specializing in immigration, divorce, and real estate
laws; since 1994, Margalie Rodriguez, Esq. has held the position of
Supervisor with the Nassau County Commission on Human Rights; and
WHEREAS, In her supervisory role at the Nassau County Human Rights
Commission, Margalie Rodriguez, Esq. manages the investigation of
discrimination complaints filed against Nassau County respondents; in
addition, she assists the Executive Director in planning and coordinat-
ing the Commission's procedures, programs and activities, in writing
reports, and assisting in final decision making; and
WHEREAS, In addition, as Supervisor, Margalie Rodriguez, Esq. presides
over all hearings, engages in speaking assignments to community organ-
izations, schools, businesses, human rights local groups, civic organ-
izations, and churches; she also assists employers in drafting and
formulating employment policies and procedures; and
WHEREAS, For many years, Margalie Rodriguez, Esq. has advocated for
human rights at various international associations; today, she is a
member of numerous national and international organizations, and holds
the title of Vice President of Legal Affairs for National Action Network
West Nassau Chapter, one of the leading civil rights organizations in
the Nation, with chapters throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Margalie Rodriguez, Esq. serves as the Vice Presi-
dent of the Haitian-American Lawyers Association of New York, and is a
vital member of several other bar associations; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Margalie Rodriguez, Esq. upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the prestigious Mother's Day Award by the National Action
Network and Gateway Christian Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Margalie Rodriguez, Esq., the National Action Network, and
the Gateway Christian Center.
