LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Cosimo J. Venneri upon the occa-
sion of celebrating his 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Cosimo J. Venneri upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th Birth-
day to be celebrated with a party in his honor on February 22, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Cosimo J. Venneri was born on February 27, 1915, in Brooklyn,
New York; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from St. Francis High School in Brooklyn,
this esteemed man proudly served his country as a member of the United
States Navy during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Following his military service, Cosimo J. Venneri became self
employed as a dress contractor; he operated a factory which employed 50
workers and fulfilled such varied and important roles as seamstress,
presser, cutter and accountant to make his business a success; and
WHEREAS, Cosimo J. Venneri, despite his busy professional life,
believes in giving back to his community; he is a long-time member of
Kiwanis Club of West End and uses a computer to manage his responsibil-
ities; and
WHEREAS, A music lover, Cosimo J. Venneri is known for his love of
singing and playing the violin, as well as being a great dancer; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian, with his zest for life, has
inspired and enhanced the lives of his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Mildred Venneri;
their two children, Anthony and Claire (Joe); and their two grandchil-
dren, Tara (Rodolphe) and Gabrielle (Chris) ; as well as their four
great-grandchildren, Craig, Daniel, Thomas, and Christian, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, This beloved man has enriched the lives of those around him
through his joyous and sincere love for others and through the quiescent
charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have witnessed
and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and awesome
achievements of this country during the last century, while themselves
contributing to the growth and excellence of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Cosimo J. Venneri upon the occasion of his 100th Birthday;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cosimo J. Venneri.
