LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Police Officer Robert E. Kane, Jr. upon
the occasion of his retirement after 30 years of distinguished service
to Saratoga County

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contribution and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert E.
Kane, Jr. upon the occasion of his retirement after 30 years as a Police
Officer of Saratoga County; a retirement party will be held in his
honor, on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at the Holiday Inn in Saratoga
Springs, New York; and
WHEREAS, Robert E. Kane, Jr., the son of Theresa, and the late Police
Captain Robert E. Kane, and his four brothers, Detective Sergeant Dan
Kane, of the Schenectady, New York Police Department, Criminal Forensic
Auditor Steve Kane of the New York State Tax Criminal Investigation
Division, Lieutenant Colonel Mike Kane of the United States Marines, and
Brian Kane, a teacher at Burnt Hills School District, were born and
raised in Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Robert E. Kane, Jr. began his esteemed law enforcement
career, spanning three decades, as a full time Public Safety Administra-
tor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York; in 1984, he
began his career in municipal law enforcement with the New York State
Park Police in Saratoga Springs, New York; and
WHEREAS, Beginning in 1999, Robert E. Kane, Jr. worked for eight years
as the Chief of Police in Corinth, New York; during that time, he was a
member of the Saratoga County Drug Task Force, and was appointed to the
Traffic Safety Board; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious career, Robert E. Kane, Jr. also
worked for the North Greenbush and Ballston Spa Police Departments, and
the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Leah Demartino Kane,
and their son, Captain Robert Kane III, who proudly serves his country
in the United States Marine Corps, both of whom feel privileged to be a
part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Police Officer Robert E. Kane, Jr. upon the occasion of his
retirement after 30 years of distinguished service to Saratoga County;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Police Officer Robert E. Kane, Jr.
