LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Debbie Peda upon the occasion of her
designation as 2015 Individual Philanthropist of the Year by the
Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Debbie Peda
upon the occasion of her designation as 2015 Individual Philanthropist
of the Year by the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York, to
be celebrated at its Gala Event, "An Evening to End Alzheimer's," on
Friday, May 1, 2015, at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The Alzheimer's Association is the world's leading voluntary
health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Alzheimer's Association is to eliminate
Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, provide and
enhance care and support for all affected, and reduce the risk of demen-
tia through the promotion of brain health; and
WHEREAS, Debbie Peda has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Guilderland, New York, Debbie Peda has
been a steadfast and dedicated member of the Walk to End Alzheimer's
Planning Committee since her mother, the late Carol Capozucco, was diag-
nosed with the disease in 2011; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, at the 2014 Capital Region Walk, Debbie Peda's
team, Team CarolCap, raised significant funds, giving them the sixth
highest fundraising total; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Debbie Peda has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Gregory, and their
two children, Gabriela and Brandon, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Debbie Peda has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Debbie Peda upon the occasion of her designation as 2015 Individ-
ual Philanthropist of the Year by the Alzheimer's Association of North-
eastern New York, and to wish her continued success in all of her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Debbie Peda.
