LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lori Snyder upon the occasion of her
designation as 2015 Volunteer of the Year by the Alzheimer's Association
of Northeastern New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lori Snyder
upon the occasion of her designation as 2015 Volunteer of the Year by
the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York, to be celebrated
at its Gala Event, "An Evening to End Alzheimer's," on Friday, May 1,
2015, at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Alzheimer's Association is the world's leading voluntary
health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Alzheimer's Association is to eliminate
Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, provide and
enhance care and support for all affected, and reduce the risk of demen-
tia through the promotion of brain health; and
WHEREAS, Lori Snyder has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, In 2003, Lori Snyder became involved with the Alzheimer's
Association after her father, George, was diagnosed with the neurologi-
cal disease; five years later, she became a member of this vital organ-
ization's Board of Directors, and then served as the Secretary; and
WHEREAS, Along with three team members, Lori Snyder participated in
the annual Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, the world's
largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support
and research; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Lori Snyder organized a fundraiser, the Ride to
Remember, to raise more money for the Alzheimer's Association; she drove
a motor home embellished with Alzheimer's disease slogans and logos,
alongside two of her friends who rode their bikes a total of 386 miles,
from Massachusetts to Niagara Falls and back home to Fultonville, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Lori Snyder has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Lori Snyder has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lori Snyder upon the occasion of her designation as 2015 Volunteer
of the Year by the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York, and
to wish her continued success in all of her future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lori Snyder.
