LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. James H. Puleo upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2015 Third Age Achievement Award in
Medicine by Senior Services of Albany

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality of life in the communities across this great State of New York
is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those indi-
viduals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. James H.
Puleo upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2015
Third Age Achievement Award in Medicine by Senior Services of Albany, to
be celebrated at its 19th Annual Third Age Achievement Awards Luncheon
on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Wolfert's Roost Country Club, Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the contributions
that area residents and professionals have made in their communities
during the Third Age of their lives; Dr. James H. Puleo will receive
this award for his valuable achievements and devoted healthcare service
to his community after the age of 60; and
WHEREAS, Dr. James H. Puleo received his Bachelor of Science degree
from Manhattan College prior to attending Albany Medical College where
he received his Doctor of Medicine degree; and
WHEREAS, For over 43 years, Dr. James H. Puleo maintained a highly
respected, professional practice in the Albany area, making countless
contributions to enriching the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, From 1966 to 1968, Dr. James H. Puleo served his country with
honor and distinction as a member of the United States Army during the
Vietnam Crisis, where he held the esteemed rank of Captain; and
WHEREAS, Dr. James H. Puleo was a member of the American College of
Physicians for many years before becoming a fellow of the college in
1991; and
WHEREAS, In 2006, Dr. James H. Puleo was recognized as one of Ameri-
ca's top physicians in the United States; and
WHEREAS, A man of numerous professional accomplishments, Dr. James H.
Puleo served as Chief of Medicine at Memorial Hospital; for over 20
years, he was a member of the Memorial Hospital Medical Staff Executive
Committee, and held the esteemed position of Chief of Staff for two
separate terms; and
WHEREAS, Active in his community as well as his profession, Dr. James
H. Puleo has served on several civic boards, sharing his insight,
expertise, and influence including the Boards for the Leukemia Society,
Blue Shield of Northeastern New York, Blue Cross Consortium, the Boys
Club of Albany, and the Advisory Board of CDPHP; he was also Chairman of
the Board for Christian Brothers Academy for 11 years; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Dr. James H. Puleo was instrumental in helping
the Albany Medical Center Hospital committees raise over 21 million
dollars for their renovations; and
WHEREAS, Among his tireless contributions, Dr. James H. Puleo main-
tains Board membership with the Senior Citizens Bureau, and serves as a
standing committee member of the Senior Citizens Games; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend individ-
uals whose professional commitment and dedication enhance the excellence
of health care in their community and the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Dr. James H. Puleo was married to the late Evelyn Palitotta
Puleo for 44 years, and together, they raised five children, Michele,
Alicia, Stephanie, Jennifer, and James V.; six years ago, he married the
former Lucille Salamida, who has three children, Raymond, Maria, and

Gregory; today, Dr. James and Lucille enjoy spending quality time with
their many grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of
his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Dr. James H. Puleo has served his
patients with compassion and care; he has contributed to the maintenance
and enhancement of the highest professional standards; sharing with
others his knowledge and expertise, as well as his dedication and
commitment to quality health care; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. James H. Puleo upon the occasion of his designation as recipi-
ent of the 2015 Third Age Achievement Award in Medicine by Senior
Services of Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. James H. Puleo.
