LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ann G. DiSarro upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2015 Third Age Achievement Award in
Health and Human Services by Senior Services of Albany

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ann G. DiSarro
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2015 Third Age
Achievement Award in Health and Human Services by Senior Services of
Albany, to be celebrated at its 19th Annual Third Age Achievement Awards
Luncheon on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Wolfert's Roost Country Club, Alba-
ny, New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the contributions
that area residents and professionals have made in their communities
during the Third Age of their lives; Ann G. DiSarro will receive this
award for her valuable achievements and devoted service to her community
after the age of 60; and
WHEREAS, From 1987 to 2006, Ann G. DiSarro held the esteemed position
of Executive Director of Senior Services of Albany; the efforts of her
tenure at this worthy organization are still implemented today; and
WHEREAS, In 1980, Ann G. DiSarro joined the agency as Program Direc-
tor, and quickly moved into the top post in 1987; prior to joining
Senior Services of Albany, she served as the Director of Title V Employ-
ment Programs for the City of Schenectady; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her outstanding service with Senior Services
of Albany, Ann G. DiSarro served as president of the New York State
Coalition for the Aging, president and board member for Visiting Nurses
of Albany, president of Capital District Providers of Aging Services,
president of the Schenectady Junior League, and president of the Albany
Rotary Club; she also spends her time and energies working with several
community boards; and
WHEREAS, Since 2006, maintaining her commitment to the elderly, Ann G.
DiSarro has availed herself as a consultant working on numerous projects
with respect to aging service issues, and not-for-profit management
issues including: organizing community senior services information fairs
for Schenectady County Department of Senior and Long Term Care; organiz-
ing and presenting two webinar series for aging senior service providers
in New York State for the New York State Coalition of Aging; New York
State Office of the Aging; planning and executing a symposium for
professionals working with the elderly in New York State; and Stay Fit,
Live Well; and
WHEREAS, Ann G. DiSarro's commitment to enriching the lives of others
can also be measured by her philanthropic volunteerism; currently, she
serves on the Board of Directors at St. Peter's Health Partners; from
2012 to 2013, she served on the Board of Girls Inc. of the Greater Capi-
tal Region, as well as the Chair of the Board of Directors from 2013 to
2015; and
WHEREAS, Ann G. DiSarro has been the recipient of numerous awards and
accolades in recognition of her outstanding service including: Hospital
Trustee of the Year Award by Healthcare Trustees of New York State;
Distinguished Leadership Award by the Colonie Regional Chamber of
Commerce Capital Leadership; and the Executive Peer Recognition Award by
the New York State Council of Community Services; and

WHEREAS, Today, Ann G. DiSarro is the loving mother of five children,
Kate, Megan, Ellen, Gabriel, and Seth, and the proud grandmother of
seven grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her
life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations devoted to improving the quali-
ty of life for others, enabling them to build lives of dignity and self-
worth are deserving of the highest praise and recognition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ann G. DiSarro upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2015 Third Age Achievement Award in Health and Human Services by
Senior Services of Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ann G. DiSarro.
