LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert J. McMahon upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2015 Third Age Achievement Award in
Health and Human Services by Senior Services of Albany

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality of life in the communities across this great State of New York
is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those indi-
viduals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert J.
McMahon upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2015
Third Age Achievement Award in Health and Human Services by Senior
Services of Albany, to be celebrated at its 19th Annual Third Age
Achievement Awards Luncheon on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Wolfert's Roost
Country Club, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the contributions
that area residents and professionals have made in their communities
during the Third Age of their lives; Robert J. McMahon will receive this
award for his valuable achievements and devoted service to his community
after the age of 60; and
WHEREAS, For over 50 years, Robert J. McMahon has been a vibrant,
enthusiastic participant of the Human Services community; and
WHEREAS, From 1959 to 1965, Robert J. McMahon began his commitment to
serving those less fortunate by becoming a high school teacher; he then
assumed the role of CEO for Pius XII School in Chester, New York; and
WHEREAS, Robert J. McMahon went on to become the CEO of St. Christo-
pher Ottillie Family of Service in Glencove, New York, where he created
a system to care for children in the child welfare, educational, mental
health, and developmental disability community; SCO Family of Services
helps vulnerable New Yorkers build a strong foundation for the future;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, Robert J. McMahon's SCO Family Services is
instrumental in helping young children, launch youth into adulthood,
stabilize and strengthen families, and unlock potential for children and
adults with special needs; SCO has also provided vital human services
throughout New York City and Long Island for more than 100 years; and
WHEREAS, Robert J. McMahon has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; currently, he serves as the volunteer CEO
of Peter Young Housing/Industries and Treatment Center; this worthy
organization is dedicated to creating taxpayers by serving the impover-
ished, addicted, and socially disenfranchised to help them enter the
world of work and become good citizens who contribute to their communi-
ty; and
WHEREAS, A man of many accomplishments, Robert J. McMahon's most nota-
ble achievement was building the Center for Family in Sunset Park,
Brooklyn, New York, which services the children and low income families
of that area; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Kathy, and their
three daughters, Kerri, Amy, and Molly, as well as four grandchildren,
all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations devoted to improving the quali-
ty of life for others, enabling them to build lives of dignity and self-
worth are deserving of the highest praise and recognition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the

recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert J. McMahon upon the occasion of his designation as recipi-
ent of the 2015 Third Age Achievement Award in Health and Human Services
by Senior Services of Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert J. McMahon.
