LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Kenyette Curry upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2015 Head Start Distinguished
Service Award by the Capital District Child Care Council on April 22,
2015
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Kenyette Curry upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2015 Head Start Distinguished Service Award by the Capital District
Child Care Council to be celebrated at its Semi-Annual Meeting and Head
Start 50th Anniversary Celebration on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at
Wolfert's Roost Country Club, in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Kenyette Curry has been an invaluable member of the Heart
Start management team and a powerful resource for many families and
children; a highly respected woman, she serves as a mentor for her
colleagues and staff, and is a dedicated educator whose mission is to
provide quality early childhood education programming to children as
well as access to resources and services for families in the Albany
community; and
WHEREAS, On behalf of the Head Start program, Kenyette Curry has a
large impact on families and children by serving as an advocate in the
local community and sharing services and information; evidence of
significant contributions is shown through her leadership and outspoken
advocacy for the Head Start program's children and families; and
WHEREAS, Kenyette Curry's work site/center location is often seen as a
model and premier location for Head Start services and events; she
frequently speaks publicly regarding the importance of early childhood
education and the effectiveness of the Head Start program, and has host-
ed several public events; in addition, she has been featured on local
news stations speaking about the effectiveness of Head Start and its
early childhood education practices; and
WHEREAS, In February of 2015, Kenyette Curry collaborated with the
National Heart Association to spotlight her center for one of their
Healthy Heart kick-off initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Kenyette Curry was a leader of Head Start's new
safety committee, where she was instrumental in helping create new
initiatives to increase safety procedures and best practices; her lead-
ership fostered an agency atmosphere where safety is number one; and
WHEREAS, Active in her community as well as her profession, Kenyette
Curry is a member of various agency committees, task force groups, and
program planning groups; and
WHEREAS, Kenyette Curry has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the CEO Head Start, as well as on the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for her impressive dedi-
cation to others; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her career thus far, Kenyette Curry has brought an
uncompromising standard of excellence to her work and a warm sense of
caring and concern to every young person she educates; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Kenyette Curry upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2015 Head Start Distinguished Service Award by the Capital
District Child Care Council on April 22, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kenyette Curry.
