LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Luke McFerran upon the occasion of being
named an Outstanding Student by the Capital District YMCA on April 28,
2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Luke
McFerran upon the occasion of being named an Outstanding Student by the
Capital District YMCA, at its 18th Annual Student and Educator Awards
Breakfast Reception, on April 28, 2015, at the Appel Inn, Altamont, New
York; and
WHEREAS, This commendation honors high school students and educators
from Guilderland, Voorheesville, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Bethlehem, and
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High Schools; 15 students and 3 educators are
selected as overall winners for their dedication to service in their
schools, community, and local YMCA; and
WHEREAS, Luke McFerran is currently a junior at Bethlehem Central High
School; this exceptional young man is extremely dedicated in giving back
to both his school and his community; and
WHEREAS, Luke McFerran has participated in various philanthropic
activities such as serving as a Junior Volunteer at St. Peter's Hospi-
tal, Albany, New York; in addition, he is an outdoor education intern at
the Helderberg Workshop; and
WHEREAS, In his school, Luke McFerran is a member of Peer Helpers and
Key Club, which help give back to the community through fundraising,
volunteering, and advocacy; and
WHEREAS, With his sense of civic duty and his commitment to others,
Luke McFerran represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Luke McFerran continued success throughout his school years
and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Luke McFerran upon the occasion of being named an Outstanding
Student by the Capital District YMCA on April 28, 2015; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Luke McFerran.
