LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Gregory Colonna upon the occasion of
his induction into the LONG ISLAND BUSINESS NEWS Top 40 under 40

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Gregory Colonna has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Gregory
Colonna upon the occasion of his induction into the LONG ISLAND BUSINESS
NEWS Top 40 under 40 to be celebrated at the Halesite Fire Department's
Installation Dinner in Halesite, New York, on Saturday, April 25, 2015;
and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Long Island University, Gregory Colonna is
currently a Senior Benefits Consultant with Chernoff Diamond, and has
provided outstanding service at several employee benefits consulting
firms on Long Island for the past 12 years; and
WHEREAS, Since 1995, Gregory Colonna has diligently served his commu-
nity as a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Halesite Fire Depart-
ment, serving in a number of leadership positions throughout the years;
and
WHEREAS, Today, Gregory Colonna holds the esteemed rank of 1st Assist-
ant Chief, and is one of the few Long Island volunteer firefighters to
hold a certification as Chief Officer from the Suffolk County Fire Acad-
emy; and
WHEREAS, Assistant Chief Gregory Colonna is often one of the first to
answer the call in dangerous situations, selflessly putting his life at
risk to help others; his outstanding leadership and commitment to train-
ing volunteers have proven to be invaluable to the Halesite Fire Depart-
ment; and
WHEREAS, Gregory Colonna has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; a devotee of the sport of lacrosse, he
has coached sixth graders in the Police Athletic League; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous citations for his extraordinary
service, Gregory Colonna was presented with the Presidential Call To
Service Award in recognition of his over 4,000 hours of volunteer
contributions; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Gregory Colonna upon the occasion of his induction into the LONG
ISLAND BUSINESS NEWS Top 40 under 40; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gregory Colonna.
