LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Debbie Casella upon the occasion of
her selection as Guest of Honor by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and
Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars New York District 2 on
May 2, 2015

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the great
State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good works
of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate their
lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, Debbie Casella has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to commend Debbie Casella upon
the occasion of her selection as Guest of Honor by the Veterans of
Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars New
York District 2; a dinner will be held in her honor on Saturday, May 2,
2015; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1899, the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
(VFW) is to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas
conflicts; to serve our nation's veterans, the military, and our commu-
nities; and to advocate on behalf of all veterans; and offer support to
spouses and families of deployed troops; and
WHEREAS, The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW was established in 1914;
these patriotic women serve the veterans of this country and our commu-
nities in honor of their sacrifices and commitment of every man and
woman who has served in uniform; and
WHEREAS, In 2003, Debbie Casella became a member of the Ladies Auxil-
iary to the VFW 8691 in Washingtonville, New York; she held the office
of Secretary for four years; and
WHEREAS, Debbie Casella was then elected to the position of President
of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW 8691 in 2010, a title she held for
four years; for her outstanding leadership, she was the recipient of the
2010 President of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her work with the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW
8691, Debbie Casella served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Orange County
Council of the Ladies Auxiliary for six years, after which she served as
the District 2 Guard; and
WHEREAS, In June of 2014, Debbie Casella was elected to the esteemed
role of High Office of Department Guard, a position she held until May
of 2015; today, she is serving as a New York State Department Line Offi-
cer; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to volunteer selflessly, supporting
and assisting our Nation's great heroes; and
WHEREAS, Those individuals, who have given so selflessly of their
skills and dedication, are worthy and due full recognition for their
valued contributions on behalf of their country and its ideals, uphold-
ing the patriotic character and principled ideals of organizations in
service to their fellow man; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Debbie Casella upon the occasion of her selection as Guest of
Honor by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary to the Veter-
ans of Foreign Wars New York District 2 on May 2, 2015; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Debbie Casella.
