LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Carmel High School Wind Ensemble,
Percussion Ensemble, and Concert Choir

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed youth who have distinguished themselves in their communities;
and
WHEREAS, Members of the Carmel High School Wind Ensemble, Percussion
Ensemble, and Concert Choir recently toured in Rome for one week, and
performed at the Vatican; and
WHEREAS, The invitation to perform at the Vatican was extended to
Carmel High School due to the school's consistent high scores in the
rigorous New York State Music Association rankings; and
WHEREAS, The group of 105 musicians were accompanied by music teachers
Dr. Joseph Phillips, Bryan Lynch, Dawn Bohin, and Peter Ballantoni; and
WHEREAS, Following a farewell concert at George Fischer Middle School
on March 23, 2015, they departed for Rome on March 26, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The tour also included Vatican City, Florence, and Siena; and
WHEREAS, The musicians offered a wide selection of American standards
for their European audience, including "I Hear America Singing," "Stars
and Stripes Forever," and "Battle Hymn of the Republic"; and
WHEREAS, While performing before, during, and after Mass at St.
Peter's, their program included "Psalm 101," "Senzani Na," "Go Down,
Moses," and "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross"; and
WHEREAS, This exciting tour was not only a once-in-a-lifetime experi-
ence for the young musicians, it is evidence of their remarkable dedi-
cation and musical ability; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Carmel High School Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and
Concert Choir; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to music teachers Dr. Joseph Phillips, Bryan Lynch, Dawn Bohin,
and Peter Ballantoni.
