LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Victor Fariello for 37 years of
outstanding service to the community
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Victor Fariel-
lo for 37 years of outstanding service to the community to be celebrated
at a Testimonial Dinner held in his honor on Friday, May 8, 2015, at the
Harts Hill Inn, Whitesboro, New York; and
WHEREAS, Victor Fariello began his career in the non-profit field in
1978, when he joined the New York Easter Seal Society at its Mohawk
Valley Regional Office; after 18 months, he was named to the position of
Regional Director; and
WHEREAS, In 1987, Victor Fariello served Kiwanis International as both
the District and the Foundation Secretary; in this capacity, he was
responsible for such notable achievements as the relocation of the the
New York District Kiwanis office in Utica, New York; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable man also served as Central New York Walk
Coordinator for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation; during his tenure, he
established the organization's first office in Central New York, and
planned and executed the highly successful Walk to Cure Diabetes, which
recently celebrated its 17th anniversary in 2014; and
WHEREAS, Victor Fariello was recruited to serve as the Capital
Campaign Coordinator for WSKG Public Television in Binghamton, New York,
where he contributed greatly to its fundraising campaign for the PBS
station's conversion to digital broadcast; in addition, he served as
Newspaper in Education Coordinator for the OBSERVER-DISPATCH; and
WHEREAS, In 2008, Victor Fariello was appointed Executive Director of
the Rome Area Chapter of the American Red Cross; he successfully guided
the merger of the Rome and Mohawk Valley Chapters, and was named Chapter
Executive of the newly created organization; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Victor Fariello was responsible for the
acquisition of the Cooperstown office into the Mohawk Valley Chapter,
and the opening of two new Red Cross offices located in Rome and in
Herkimer; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Victor Fariello was recently named the first
Executive Director in the history of the Rome Community Foundation, an
organization which makes substantial contributions to area charities;
and
WHEREAS, With a sense of civic responsibility, Victor Fariello served
on the New Hartford Central School Board of Education for 16 years,
including two terms as President; he was also a founding member of the
New Hartford Central School District Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Today, Victor Fariello serves as volunteer Agency Development
Chair for the Mohawk Valley Perinatal Network and as Director Emeritus
of the National Alumni Council of Utica College; and
WHEREAS, Victor Fariello also contributes to such worthy causes as the
Rome Lions Club, Rome Dollars for Scholars, the Francis J. Bellamy
Community Awards Committee, and the Boilermaker Road Race; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Victor Fariello has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Victor Fariello has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Victor Fariello for 37 years of outstanding service to the commu-
nity; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Victor Fariello.
