LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Police Officers Douglas Garrido and
Thomas Leonard of the Croton-on-Hudson Police Department for their hero-
ic actions
WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed public servants who have distinguished themselves in their
profession and in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Croton-on-Hudson Police Officers Douglas Garrido and Thomas
Leonard are being heralded for their role in saving the life of an indi-
vidual who was overdosing; and
WHEREAS, Officers Garrido and Leonard responded to the call at 9:00
p.m. on February 4, 2015; the call came from a male reporting his
friend was overdosing; and
WHEREAS, The two Police Officers arrived at the scene at 9:03 p.m.;
and
WHEREAS, They administered two vials of Naloxone to the resident;
Naloxone, commonly referred to as Narcan, is known to reverse the
effects of an overdose of opiates such as heroin; and
WHEREAS, The resident responded favorably to the administration and
was able to walk out to the ambulance; and
WHEREAS, The quick thinking and prompt actions of Police Officers
Garrido and Leonard are a tremendous inspiration to their fellow offi-
cers, and the State of New York is proud to recognize their exemplary
service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Croton-on-Hudson Police Officers Douglas Garrido and Thomas
Leonard for their heroic actions; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Police Officers Douglas Garrido and Thomas Leonard.
