LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Nini C. Wu upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Extra Mile Award by To Life! on May 5,
2015
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality of life in the communities across this great State of New York
is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those indi-
viduals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr.
Nini C. Wu upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Extra Mile Award by To Life!, to be celebrated at its 17th Annual Gala
on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at the Franklin Plaza, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Nini C. Wu is being recognized with this auspicious award
for her profound impact on breast cancer patients, as well as her unwav-
ering and steadfast commitment to facilitating continuous improvement in
the treatment infrastructure of New York Oncology Hematology; and
WHEREAS, As President of New York Oncology Hematology (NYOH), Dr. Nini
C. Wu not only leads the region's largest provider of cancer treatment,
she is also playing a vital role in shaping our health care system both
locally and at the national level; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Nini C. Wu joined NYOH in 1998 after completing fellow-
ships, residency and medical school at McGill University in Montreal,
Canada; and
WHEREAS, In her fourth term as President of NYOH, Dr. Nini C. Wu leads
a growing practice which includes 35 oncologists and hematologists, more
than 350 employees, and seven practice locations, from Hudson to Amster-
dam; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Dr. Nini C. Wu, NYOH opened its
brand new Clifton Park Cancer Center and recently invested substantial
funds to renovate its Amsterdam location; and
WHEREAS, In addition to overseeing this expansion, Dr. Nini C. Wu is
helping shape the future of cancer treatment nationally, as a member of
The United States Oncology Network's National Policy Board Executive
Committee; in this role, she is tackling issues such as how the growing
need for more complex cancer treatment will fit into the country's
evolving health care delivery system; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Nini C. Wu is also deeply committed to mentoring young
physicians and promoting both gender and racial diversity in medicine;
treating hundreds of patients each year, serving her breast cancer
patients is the role she holds most dear to her heart; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband and children, all
of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her
achievements; and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of her duties and responsibil-
ities, Dr. Nini C. Wu's ongoing efforts and notable achievements have
significantly contributed to bettering the quality of life in her commu-
nity; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Dr. Nini C. Wu has continuously
displayed initiative and an unrelenting commitment when pursuing the
highest of goals, and she has served as a role model of leadership to be
emulated by all; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dr. Nini C. Wu has displayed
throughout her life;
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Nini C. Wu upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Extra Mile Award by To Life! on May 5, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Nini C. Wu.
